Plans are already well underway for Carnival 2008 and the Carnival Committee are now looking for a locally based charity or organisation to be the main beneficiary from the Carnival Procession on Saturday 9th August. This will be the start of their summertime fund-raising week.
Due to the success of last year’s Procession, £2,000 was given to three groups as a result of the collection.
For any group to apply, we are looking for a worthy project of up to £4,000 which needs to be spent for the benefit of the local community.
All requests should be sent in writing to the Carnival Secretary, Mrs B Dawson, 5 First Avenue, Clacton on Sea, CO15 5AH by Friday 22nd February.
Carnival 2008 actually gets underway with a Quiz Nite on Friday 22nd February at St. James’s Church Hall, Clacton to raise funds for the dresses for this year’s Carnival Queen and her 2 Princesses who will be chosen later in the spring. For further information on the quiz telephone 01255 426262.
