Donations
totalling £13,330.23 have been handed over to more than 40 local charities and
organisations by the Clacton Carnival Association, monies raised from their
Carnival Week in August this year.
All the
cheques were presented by the Clacton Carnival Queen, Jenine Davey and her
Princesses, Teala Johnson and Rebecca Sewell at a Presentation Evening on
Tuesday 19th October held at the
The 2 main
charities to benefit from the collection at the Carnival Procession were the
local branch of St. John Ambulance who received £1,700 to purchase a Portable
Patient Monitor which monitors vital signs and Clacton Maternity Unit who will
receive a cheque for £1,000, which they will use to equip their Birthing Pool
Suite with a Bradbury Couch, but were unable to attend the evening.
The 2
organisations who work in partnership with the Carnival Association were each
presented with a cheque for their 50% share of the profits.
The Lions Club of Clacton received £2,221.75 from the joint venture of
producing the Clacton Carnival Newspaper and the 1st Clacton Scouts
received £808.48 their 50% share from their catering marquee at 3 of the
Carnival events.
Further
cheques were handed over ranging from £50 - £500 (a full list is attached).

Chairman of the Carnival Association, said “I would like to thank all the
Committee for their hard work and all the Sponsors and Organisations for your
continuous support of the Carnival’s activities; without your help Carnival Week
just would not happen. This has given us another very successful year enabling
us to give away so much money to worthy causes.”
