CARNIVAL CHARITY SEARCH

Even though we are in the grip of arctic weather the Clacton Carnival Committee have been busy thinking ahead to a beautiful summer and planning their fun-packed Carnival Week in August.

They are now looking for a Clacton based charity or organisation which is needing funds of up to £4,000 for a project which will benefit people locally, to be the Main Charity for the Carnival Procession on Saturday 14^th August, although the payout will not be until October.

Last year 3 local groups actually benefitted from the Carnival Procession as they all wanted around £1000 each for projects; Talkwood Re-cycling; Clacton and Tendring Shopmobility and the Youth Theatre Supporters Group. In the past few years the Carnival Committee have supported many other local groups with monies from the Procession:- Clacton and District Occupational Workshop, RNLI, St Helena Hospice Day Centre, 1^st Holland Scouts to name but a few.

The theme for this year’s Carnival Procession is ‘CIRCUS TIME’ which should give plenty of scope to make this a really colourful spectacular event.

Carnival 2010 actually gets underway with a Quiz Night, with local Quizmaster Adrian Robinson, on Friday 19^th February at St James’ Church Hall, Clacton to raise funds for the dresses for this year’s Carnival Queen and her 2 Princesses who will be chosen later in the Spring.
