Once again, we had a wonderful
response to our invitation to local schools and youth groups to take part in the
poster competition – 457 posters were submitted.
Five schools and eight youth groups – Rainbows, Brownies and Guides – took part.
John Chaston, who generously
sponsored the competition and was a judge along with Caryl
This year, the theme of Carnival
is ‘Carnival goes European’, and the posters included plenty of colourful
pictures of European Flags, as well as showing the carnival events.
Prizes and certificates were
presented to the winners by the Carnival Queen and her Princesses at the
Presentation Evening held in St James Church Hall,
A further 13 merit certificates
were also awarded.
Many thanks once again to all
those who helped to make this year’s Poster Competition such a success,
including Clacton Library for acting as a collection and display point for
posters, our Sponsor and Judges for taking on such a challenging task, and last
but not least the hard-working and enthusiastic schools and other youth
organisations who took part.
