CROWDS
COME OUT TO SUPPORT CARNIVAL PROCESSION
Crowds of people lined Clacton seafront on a lovely sunny Saturday evening to
watch the annual Carnival Procession, which had a theme of ‘Carnival goes
European’.
With 33 floats, many depicting the theme, 3 marching bands, the glamour of 14
visiting Carnival Courts, to the energetic children in 8 groups of majorettes it
was a spectacle of colour and fun and with plenty of noise too!
Everyone who took part was helping to raise money for the Charity, Inclusion
Ventures, the Charity chosen by the Carnival Committee to be the main
beneficiary from the collection.
The amazing sum of £4,314.04 was collected during the procession thanks to the
generosity of all the people who turned out to support this event.
The collection consisted of 7 notes, 194,219 coins, 531 various euro coins and
142 foreign coins as well as trolley coins, a sim card and a round silver
battery!
The Committee would like to give a big vote of thanks to the 80+ marshalls who
were standing along the route to help control the pedestrians and traffic. These
people were all from various local charities and organisations.
Also a big thank you to everyone who supported and took part in the procession
which was the start of the biggest fund-raising week held in Clacton for the
benefit of many local charities.
