Clacton Carnival Procession FAQs 

What time does the procession start?

The procession leaves West Road car park at 6pm exactly.

What time do i need to be at the start?

Judging starts at 4:45pm so we ask ALL entrants to be at the field by 4:30pm. Please start arriving by 3pm at the earliest.

Is there a car park at the procession field?

Yes you can park non procession vehicles at the start of the procession, however please collect these ASAP after the procession.

What is the procession route?

The procession starts at West Road Car Park, and travels along west road to the seafront. From here it goes straight along the seafront and stops at Victoria Road.

How long does the procession take?

This depends on how fast the procession is moving, how many entries we have, and also your place in the procession. We can never guarentee a set moving time, however the procession is normally over by 8pm/8:30pm.

Can i collect for my own charity?

No. All monies collected in the procession MUST be handed to Clacton Carnival Association LTD as set by our collectors licence on the day.

Where will the money that is collected go?

The money raised in the street procession will be split between local causes that help during Clacton Carnival week 2019.

How much is it?

For class A (with a registered charity number) the procession entry fee is £10. For classes B C and X entry fee is £25. For visiting Queen Courts and majoriette groups, and other non-vehicle entrants, there is no entry fee required.

What do i gain out of entering the procession?

You get to advertise your group to thousands of people who watch the procession. This is also a good opportunity to hand out leaflets. Although, you also get the satifaction in knowing you helped raise money for local causes!

What do i need to do?

Just read the invitation letter and procession rules, complete the entry form and then return it to the address on the letter with the correct entry fee.

What happens on the day?

When you arrive to the start field, you will be signed in. You will then be directed to where you need to park up ready for the procession. You will be given a collection bucket before leaving the field for the procession in which you MUST return at the end of the procession with ALL monies collected.
