AMY CROWNED CARNIVAL QUEEN

17 year old Amy Miller has been crowned Clacton Carnival Queen for 2011.  Amy is a student at the Colchester Institute. It’s just 2 years since she was a Clacton Carnival Princess. 15 year old Abbie Mills, a pupil at the Tendring Technology College and 11 year old Cherice Symes, a pupil at Great Clacton Junior School, were chosen as her Princesses.

The Selection and Crowning took place at a Disco at the Kingscliff Hotel on Friday 25th March. The number of entrants was low this year but with 3 for Queen and 7 for Princess the standard was very high and the Judges had a difficult task.  The Judges were: Ann Botterrill, otherwise known as Ann Dante, a local Singer; Peter and Janet Dewing, from GCS Alarms who are the sponsors of the girls’ prize money and Terry Lilley, Vice-President, Lions Club of Clacton on sea.

Amy, Abbie and Cherice will be representing Clacton at various other Carnivals in the area throughout the summer and leading the Clacton Carnival Procession on Saturday 13th August, when the theme will be ‘Carnival goes European.
